LCV Action Fund Endorses Salud Carbajal for Re-Election

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Salud Carbajal for re-election to California’s 24th Congressional District.

“Representative Carbajal has quickly established himself as an environmental leader in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “He is a tireless advocate for permanently protecting California’s treasured coast from offshore drilling, building our clean energy future and preserving our majestic public lands, and we are excited to endorse him for re-election.”

“Salud Carbajal’s leadership in Congress is without question, from fighting to defend protections for the Carrizo Plains to resisting efforts by the Trump Administration to open California’s coasts to offshore oil drilling. His perfect environmental score is a continuation of his long legacy of being a champion for clean air, clean water, and protecting our communities,” said California League of Conservation Voters CEO Mary Creasman. “We fully support his re-election to Congress and thank him for his ongoing leadership.”

“The Central Coast has led the way in preserving our environment and protecting our renowned public lands,” said Salud Carbajal. “With increasing wildfires and drought, it is imperative that we enact policies to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change. I thank LCV Action Fund for their strong support and look forward to continue working alongside them in the fight for our environment and public health.”

Representative Carbajal’s first legislative action in Congress was to introduce The California Clean Coast Act which would permanently prohibit future oil and gas leasing off the coast of the entire state of California. He has also been a steadfast defender of his district’s public lands, including calling for the continued protection of the Carrizo Plain National Monument and introducing the Central Coast Heritage Protection Act that would permanently protect nearly 250,000 acres of public lands in the Los Padres National Forest and Carrizo Plain National Monument. He is a member of the Climate and Environmental Justice Congressional Task Force, Congressional Oceans Caucus, Outdoor Recreation Caucus, and Congressional Shellfish Caucus. Rep. Carbajal earned a perfect 100% on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard in 2017, his first year in office.
