CA Peace Officers, Santa Barbara Sheriffs’ Deputies Back Salud Carbajal for Congress

Endorsements signal strong support among public safety officials and organizations throughout the Central Coast

Today, Salud Carbajal’s campaign announced the endorsement of two prominent law enforcement groups for the 24th Congressional District seat.  The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), representing more than 64,000 California public safety members and the Santa Barbara County Deputy Sheriff’s Association join retiring Congresswoman Lois Capps in addition to many more community leaders and groups endorsing Carbajal’s campaign.

We have worked collaboratively with Salud Carbajal for over two decades,” said Mike Durant, President of PORAC. “Our public safety officers are proud to support him in his campaign for Congress.  We trust Salud to continue working with us to keep our communities safe.  He has worked with stakeholders from both parties to balance budgets while building the County’s largest rainy day fund and earning the top bond credit rating in the state.  His bipartisan approach is exactly what we need in Washington, DC.”

“Salud has partnered with law enforcement to keep our communities safe and make a real difference in the lives of Central Coast families,” said Matt McFarlin, President of the Santa Barbara County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association. “He worked with us to help establish a gang task force that’s driven down crime rates and worked with our District Attorney to create a successful program to reduce school truancy. That’s the kind of partner we want in Congress.”

“The safety of our communities and Central Coast families has remained a priority of mine throughout my career in public service and will remain so in Congress,” said Supervisor Carbajal. “I am honored to have earned the support of these organizations who represent the valued law enforcement officials in our region who have dedicated their lives to protecting our citizens.”
