Barack Obama Endorses Salud Carbajal for Congress in CA-24

Today, Barack Obama announced his support for Salud Carbajal in the race to represent California’s 24th Congressional District.

Obama recognizes Carbajal’s long record of public service advocating for Central Coast working and middle-class families and fighting to protect our coastline. Obama previously appointed Carbajal to serve on the President’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience.

“I’m proud to endorse Salud Carbajal for the United States House of Representatives,” said Barack Obama. “In Congress, Salud will be the kind of progressive leader we need to build on all of the progress we’ve made over the last eight years to create a stronger, safer, fairer country for our children. Salud is a fighter for Central Coast working families, and will fight for a level playing field so that everyone has a shot at the American dream.

“In Congress, I know that Salud will stand up and fight to raise the minimum wage, end the influence of secret money in politics, address the climate change crisis, and enact reforms to end the cycle of senseless gun violence in our country. All Central Coast families can count on Salud Carbajal to stand up for them, too.”

“I’m incredibly honored to have Barack Obama’s support in this election,” said Salud Carbajal. “Barack Obama has led our country from recession to helping create more opportunity and security for working and middle-class families. Our quality of life on the Central Coast has benefitted from Barack Obama addressing the impacts of climate change, advocating for equal pay for women, and fighting to deliver quality and affordable healthcare to all Americans. I will work diligently in Congress to continue building upon the progress our country has made under Obama’s leadership.”
